PSG and EFC chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has confirmed that Real Madrid are on the verge of rejoining the body, sealing a peace deal following the bitter Super League saga.

The name may catch a few off guard, but this is the former ECA—the organisation previously chaired by Andrea Agnelli until the breakaway crisis erupted. In October 2025, under the Qatari chief’s stewardship, the body rebranded to shake off that tarnished image and herald a fresh dawn for European football.

Speaking at the summit in Copenhagen, Al-Khelaifi confirmed the roadmap for Madrid’s reintegration following their agreement with UEFA to shelve the Super League once and for all. “We are delighted that Real Madrid are in the process of returning to the EFC,” the executive explained, before mounting a staunch defence of the Spanish heavyweights: “Madrid and Florentino have been disrespected. The president has done an enormous amount for the club and for Spanish football.”

Anas Laghari, Florentino Perez’s trusted advisor, was also in attendance at the assembly on behalf of A22, the backing group behind the Super League proposal. ‘Marca’ reports that officials viewed his presence as a clear gesture of goodwill from the Spanish giants.
