The Swiss defender is set to leave the Rossoneri on a season-long loan, joining Lyon in a bid to secure regular first-team football and further his development.

Following the high-profile arrivals of Goncalo Ramos, Gila, and Diawara, Milan are now looking to trim their squad. The next player destined for the exit is Zachary Athekame, who is poised to continue his progression away from San Siro.

According to reports from Sky Sport, Olympique Lyonnais have reached an agreement with Milan for a season-long loan for the 2004-born defender, with the French side set to cover his entire salary.

The young Swiss defender’s future appeared increasingly distant from Ruben Amorim’s plans during the opening weeks of the season. The Portuguese manager notably left him on the bench during the recent friendly against Chelsea.

Now, Zachary Athekame is ready to head to Ligue 1, where he will have the opportunity to find greater consistency and gain valuable experience before returning to Milan.
