Marc Casado has reaffirmed his desire to remain at Barcelona while admitting that pre-season discussions with Hansi Flick will be key in determining his role.

Marc Casadó has reiterated his intention to continue at Barcelona, while acknowledging that his immediate future may depend on upcoming discussions during pre-season.

Speaking to SER’s ‘Què T’hi Jugues’, the midfielder said: “My objective has always been to be part of Barcelona’s first team. As long as the club and the manager want me here, I will fight to earn minutes.”

The 20-year-old confirmed that he has already held talks with head coach Hansi Flick to address his situation ahead of the new campaign. “I spoke with Flick and we made things clear. Pre-season will help us to fully clarify the situation”, he explained.

Casado is due to return to training next week as Barcelona begin pre-season preparations on 13 July. In additional comments to Jijantes, he admitted that last season proved challenging due to limited playing time.

“In the end, no player likes to play less or have fewer minutes, but I have always said that whatever role I am given, I will try to give everything for the team and the dressing room”, he said.

He also dismissed transfer speculation, “We already know how this works,  a lot of nonsense comes out in the end. Let people say whatever they want.”
