Manchester City lived up to their billing as overwhelming favourites, thrashing Norwich City 5-0 to book their place in the EFL Cup last 16, where they will face Brighton & Hove Albion.

The reigning champions, as anticipated, cruised past a Norwich City side currently languishing in 14th place in the Championship.

The standout narrative of the evening was the emergence of 17-year-old German talent Floyd Samba, who spearheaded the victory with an eye-catching brace. The teenager broke the deadlock with a diving header before grabbing his second courtesy of a crisp, clinical right-footed finish.

Rayan Cherki extended the cushion on the counter-attack, whilst Allan Elias made his Manchester City debut following his switch from Palmeiras, capping the milestone with his maiden goal. Fellow prodigy Ryan McAidoo then latched onto a clever dummy from Samba to seal the 5-0 rout of the ‘Canaries’.

The ‘Sky Blues’ will now take on Brighton & Hove Albion, conquerors of Manchester United, in the last 16 of the EFL Cup.
