{"id":2440,"date":"2026-08-14T17:22:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T09:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dxtynews.com\/?p=2440"},"modified":"2026-08-14T17:22:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T09:22:00","slug":"chelsea-identify-fresh-midfield-target-as-deadline-set-for-enzo-fernandez-departure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dxtynews.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/14\/chelsea-identify-fresh-midfield-target-as-deadline-set-for-enzo-fernandez-departure\/","title":{"rendered":"Chelsea identify fresh midfield target as deadline set for Enzo Fernandez departure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/dxtynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-21.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dxtynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-21.png 1000w, https:\/\/dxtynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-21-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/dxtynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-21-768x432.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chelsea have turned their attention to a new midfield option at Stamford Bridge, with the club actively mulling over the potential sale of Enzo Fernandez before the transfer window closes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chelsea are giving Manchester City until the end of this week to make an approach for their Argentina international, a player we have been reporting all summer as a serious candidate for this summer\u2019s market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simultaneously, the west London club have begun looking at Monaco&#8217;s Lamine Camara recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The central midfielder is holding out for an established top club if he is to leave Monaco for the Premier League this summer and he would be interested in Chelsea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crystal Palace failed with a \u20ac50million approach, and the Eagles have received little encouragement from the player\u2019s side that he will push for the move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Camara, 22, is open to leaving Monaco &#8211; but his preference is understood to be for a club with greater prestige and ambitions at the top end of English football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That currently leaves Palace facing an uphill battle despite their willingness to make a significant investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chelsea have made inroads around the Senegal international about potentially making an offer this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Manchester United have also been linked, but at present Chelsea appears to represent the most likely landing spot possibility for Camara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Camara may have to be patient if Chelsea are to become a realistic destination, with departures likely to be required before the Blues can make room for another high-profile midfield signing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And Fernandez is one player whose future could become relevant to the situation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chelsea have also been assessing other midfield options, too, including Premier League duo Alex Scott and Adam Wharton, meaning Camara is not the only player under consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Monaco midfielder\u2019s growing reputation explains why the competition for his signature is developing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Camara joined Monaco from Metz in 2024 and has since established himself as one of the most highly regarded young midfielders in European football.
