Radnicki Kragujevac head coach Mladen Zizovic, 44, died after suffering a cardiac arrest during his team’s league match against Mladost Lucani on Monday. He passed away on the way to hospital despite efforts to resuscitate him.

Serbian football was left in shock on Monday following the sudden death of Zizovic, who collapsed roughly 20 minutes into the game. Medical staff rushed to assist him on the sidelines after he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The match was suspended as Zizovic received treatment before being taken to hospital by ambulance. His condition worsened en route, and despite the paramedics’ best efforts, the Bosnian-born coach could not be revived.

Zizovic had only been appointed on October 23, less than two weeks before his passing. News of his death led to the immediate abandonment of the match, with players and staff visibly distraught.

In a statement, Radnicki Kragujevac expressed their deep sorrow:

“Radnicki Kragujevac informs the public, with deep sadness and disbelief, that during today’s match against Mladost Lucani, our coach Mladen Zizovic has passed away.

A man who left a lasting mark wherever he went — with his knowledge, calmness, and integrity. Radnicki Kragujevac extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and everyone who knew Mladen. His dedication to football, his passion for the game, and his human warmth will forever remain in our memory.”
