Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim refused to get carried away after the 4-2 victory over Brighton, which was the Red Devils’ third consecutive win after a difficult spell.
Manchester United are beginning to take off under Ruben Amorim. After a poor season in the Premier League and a bad start to the season, the Red Devils have secured their third consecutive victory and sit fourth with 16 points, just three points behind leaders Arsenal, although the Gunners have a game in hand.
Although the Manchester side had a late scare with two goals from the Seagulls that looked like they could threaten to hold them to a draw, a sublime Mbeumo scored in the 96th minute to secure the victory, which Ruben Amorim spoke about to the press.
The Portuguese coach was very proud of his team’s performance throughout the match but did not want to get carried away, knowing that they are coming out of a difficult period and that things could take a turn for the worse again at any moment.
“You can feel that the team is a little bit different,” Amorim said. We can respond in a different way and we feel that we can solve anything and that helps us to win these kind of games when you are in a very good moment. Three weeks ago [it was different] so that can change in the next three weeks. Let’s enjoy, but the urgency of this could change and it must be there in the next training,” he added.
In fact, Amorim said that the victory against the Seagulls had seemed even more complete and deserved than the one they recently claimed at Anfield.
“I think it was a more complete performance. You can say whatever you want to say against Liverpool but they didn’t deserve to lose that game. We deserved to win but they didn’t deserve to lose. I think today we did a little bit of everything.
“We had the ball, we created chances, we defended high, we defended low. So when it’s more complete. I feel that it’s more, it’s not a statement but I feel more complete also as a manager. So today I think I like more than the last weekend,” he concluded.
