Nick Woltemade has made an impressive start to his Newcastle career, already bagging five goals in eight appearances. Arriving with the tag of being Alexander Isak’s successor, the German is currently exceeding expectations, in stark contrast to the Swedish forward who is yet to find his best form since joining Liverpool.
Adapting to a new environment is never easy, especially when you arrive with the weight of expectation and tasked with replacing a player who left a significant mark on the team. This is precisely the situation Nick Woltemade is experiencing at the start of his Newcastle career. He arrived as the successor to none other than Alexander Isak, and the German seems to be thriving.
He has featured in eight matches for the ‘Magpies’, already notching up five goals. Including his appearances for his national side, Woltemade has played a total of 12 games, scoring six goals and providing one assist since his change of colours.
In contrast, Isak’s start at Liverpool has fallen short of expectations. While not entirely disappointing, he has only managed one goal and one assist in seven appearances to date. Although he has played fewer minutes than Newcastle’s new signing, he is yet to showcase his full potential.
Surpassing Isak’s Numbers
Comparing Woltemade’s first eight matches with those of Isak for Newcastle, the German has outperformed the Swede. In his initial eight games for the ‘Magpies’, Isak scored three goals and provided one assist. The former Stuttgart player already boasts five goals.
Furthermore, Woltemade currently has a better average in successful passes, goals, offensive duels won, headed goals, aerial duels won, and ball recoveries this season. However, Isak surpasses him in assists, key passes, successful dribbles, shots on target, and overall shot frequency.
For now, it is too early to draw firm conclusions, but the reality is that things are unfolding differently for both players.
