Elche announced the loan signing of Inaki Pena on Wednesday. The goalkeeper, who remains a Barcelona player after renewing his contract until 2029, will spend the season on loan at the Martinez Valero.
The rumour is now confirmed. After a promising start to the season with two good performances against Real Betis and Atlético de Madrid, Elche have confirmed the loan signing of Inaki Pena, who has renewed his contract with his parent club until 2029.
The Barcelona goalkeeper will compete in Eder Sarabia’s project until the end of the current season. The Martínez Valero will have a new guardian to compete with Matías Dituro until 30 June 2026.
Inaki Pena was not in Hansi Flick’s plans. Joan García is the club’s bet, Wojciech Szczesny is their second option and Marc-André ter Stegen is another issue in the Catalan capital. The goalkeeper needed to leave to get game time.
Matías Dituro is Eder Sarabia’s trusted goalkeeper. It remains to be seen whether a goalkeeper on loan from Barcelona will elevate him to the starting position at the Martinez Valero outfit, a stadium buzzing with excitement after the start of the league season.
