Luis Enrique praised Paris Saint-Germain’s great form after their 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid. The Spanish coach wants to prolong it until the end of the Club World Cup.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said Sunday that his players are “in a sweet moment” after thrashing Atletico Madrid 4-0 in their FIFA Club World Cup debut. The victory comes just two weeks after the European Champions League final, in which they destroyed Inter Milan 5-0.

“We value very much how we are right now, it is the fruit of work done throughout the season and we want to extend it to the maximum,” said Luis Enrique in a press conference after the match.

Despite the forcefulness of their recent victories, Luis Enrique warned that “the difference between the best teams is always very small” and that “once you get to the knockout stages, you can be eliminated at any time”.

For Luis Enrique, after winning the Champions League, “a different chapter begins in which you have to show that you have the capacity to continue to revive yourself”.

“The club is very hungry, the fans are very hungry, the players and the team are very hungry,” said the Asturian coach, who defined the new phase as a “challenge”.

The Parisians won with goals from Fabian and Vitinha – voted player of the match – in the first half and Senny Mayulu and Lee Kang-in from the penalty spot in the final stretch, after Atletico was left with 10 men due to the Lenglet’s red card.

PSG will play Brazil’s Botafogo – Libertadores champions – on the 19th and Seattle Sounders of the MLS on the 23rd for the other two group B matches in the first phase of the tournament.
