Simone Inzaghi leads Inter Milan to their second final in the past three seasons, looking for redemption after the painful defeat to Manchester City in 2023 and add a 10th trophy to his cabinet.
Inter Milan face a crucial week, with the Champions League showpiece against Paris Saint-Germain coming up on Saturday at the Allianz Arena. After their painful defeat to Manchester City in 2023, the Nerazzurri look for redemption, and to guide them through this challenge for a second time in three seasons is Simone Inzaghi.
Before arriving at Inter, Inzaghi made his managerial debut at Lazio in the second half of the 2015/16 campaign. He led the Biancocelesti until 2021, conquering two Italian Super Cups (2017 and 2019) and a Coppa Italia (2019) with a winning percentage of 53,39%. Since his switch to the Milan outfit, the 49-year-old has bumped it up to 65.28%
The Italian head coach has forged a solid and winning path with Inter, seeing six new additions to his silverware cabinet throughout his four years in charge: three Italian Super Cup (2021, 2022, 2023), two Coppa Italias (2022 and 2023) and a Serie A title (2024), bringing him to a total of nine trophies from nine campaigns as a manager.
Minus last term’s Scudetto triumph, the former Lazio striker has won all of his trophies from finals, making him somewhat of a specialist in finals. Inzaghi’s numbers speak for themselves, but despite that, he does not boast of media attention like other top European coaches. Perhaps, it could be because he is missing the most important trophy at club level: the Champions League.
He failed in his task of winning Europe’s elite club competition two years ago, but on Saturday night in Munich, he will have the chance to get his revenge. Should he succeed, he would go into double digits and claim his 10th trophy in eight years in his professional managerial career, which will finally put him among the best in the business.
