The announcement of Hansi Flick’s renewal is a matter of days. ‘Mundo Deportivo’ reports that the coach had dinner with Joan Laporta and his agent Pini Zahavi after the victory in the ‘Clasico’ to seal the final details of his renewal which will be valid until 2027.
FC Barcelona’s victory over Real Madrid in the fourth and final ‘Clasico’ of the season was the second to last push for La Liga title. To celebrate it, Joan Laporta invited to dinner one of the masterminds of the ‘Cule’ success, the coach Hansi Flick, whose renewal is already underway.
‘Mundo Deportivo’ published on Tuesday that the Barca president shared table and tablecloth with the German coach and his agent Pini Zahavi at the Botafumeiro restaurant in Barcelona. There, a final meeting was held to finalise the details of Flick’s new contract.
This meeting was already planned. Zahavi had planned to travel to the Catalan capital to watch the ‘Clasico’ from the stands of Montjuic and meet Laporta and Flick beyond the result, but the victory was also a good reason to celebrate and to toast that the coach will continue until June 30th, 2027. The agreement is complete.
Barca’s intention at all times has been to secure the renewal of Hans-Dieter Flick before the end of the season. Deco does not like anyone to be in the year of the end of his contract, although the German preferred to take it easy and even called for the end of the league. Finally, circumstances could bring the announcement forward.
According to the aforementioned media, the desire of both parties is to officially communicate the contract extension of the German once Barcelona has already been proclaimed champions of La Liga. This could happen on Thursday in the Barcelona derby against Espanyol, and even earlier if Real Madrid slip up on Wednesday against Mallorca at the Bernabeu.
