Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone visited the press room at the end of the match against Rayo Vallecano (3-0) and assured that his team, despite being practically out of thetitle race, has to be prepared for any situation.

Atletico Madrid is still in the hunt for the top two, Barcelona and Madrid, to cling to the fight for the title. The ‘Colchoneros’ defeated Rayo Vallecano 3-0 and Simeone, in the press room, made it very clear that his team has to be aware if any of the top teams fail to win.

“It’s part of the way, it’s football and many situations can happen. We have to be prepared for whatever may happen, hopefully we can maintain this line in time“, said the Argentine coach, who once again praised the figure of Julian Alvarez: ”I am very happy about Julian’s moment. His present and his future even more so. We are very happy that he wanted to come to Atletico”.

Regarding Oblak, who equaled Valdes’ clean sheet record and is already threatening Casillas’, the Argentine coach hailed him: “He is the best goalkeeper we’ve had since I’ve been at the club. I have no doubt that he competes with the best if not the best and hopefully he can get another Zamora, which would speak very well of him and the work he has done lately for Atletico”.

Finally, Simeone valued the victory over Rayo Vallecano. “It was quite an entertaining match with attacks and dangerous situations from both teams that I’m sure we could have settled better for both teams. In the second half we worked with more order. The play for the third goal was exquisite, Griezmann’s vision, Julian’s run…”, he concluded.
