Mikel Merino came out to the mixed zone and spoke to ‘Amazon Prime’ after Arsenal’s crushing win over Real Madrid. The Spaniard praised Declan Rice’s free-kick goals: “He has one of the best shooting abilities that i’ve seen in my career”.

Mikel Merino, scorer of the Arsenal’s third goal in their 3-0 win over Real Madrid, said Declan Rice has one of the best shooting abilities he has seen in his career and said he was not surprised by the two free-kicks he scored on Tuesday.

The English midfielder scored the first two free-kick goals of his career to send Arsenal into the Champions League semifinals, pending what happens in the second leg at the Bernabeu.

“We had a few free-kicks in the past week that we didn’t score, but Rice has one of the best shooting abilities that i’ve seen in my career. I’m not surprised, maybe you are. Hopefully more will come in the future,” said the midfielder from Navarre on ‘Amazon Prime’.

On the win, which puts them one step away from their first Champions League semifinals since 2009, Merino praised the support they had from the stands. “In the dressing room we talked about keeping the rhythm and tempo of the match, with the help of the crowd on our side. The second half was incredible, we played at our best. When this team plays like that with our people here…”.
