As reported by ‘MD’ and confirmed to ‘EFE’ by Barca sources, the Catalan club will present allegations to the appeal filed by Osasuna for the alleged improper lineup of Inigo Martinez.

Barcelona will present allegations to the complaint filed by Osasuna to the Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, for the alleged improper lineup of Inigo Martinez in the match of the 27th round of LaLiga EA Sports.

This has been advanced by the newspaper ‘Mundo Deportivo’ and confirmed to ‘EFE’ by sources of the Catalan club, who understand that no irregularity was committed with the participation of the Basque defender in the match played at the Olimpico Lluis Companys last Thursday, March 27th.

Osasuna appealed the result, which ended 3-0 in favour of the ‘Cules’, before the RFEF’s Competition Committee, considering that the player’s participation in the match violated Article 5 of Annex I of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.

This article specifies that a player who does not join his national team for medical reasons, or leaves it, may not play matches for his club during the 5 calendar days following the end of the international period.

In the case of Inigo Martinez, he had been withdrawn by the Spanish coach, Luis de la Fuente, at the beginning of the break due to his injury and was not included in the final list for the quarter-final matches of the Nations League against the Netherlands.

Pending the final decision of the Disciplinary Committee, Barca will provide their explanations through these allegations to defend that there was no improper lineup of the defender.
