Wojciech Szczesny’s future at Barcelona appears secure as his agent, Joshua Barnett, expresses confidence in reaching a swift agreement for a contract extension with the Catalan giants.
Wojciech Szczesny’s agent, Joshua Barnett, has revealed that the Polish goalkeeper’s contract renewal has developed positively. “We will easily reach an agreement with the club on a renewal,” Barnett told Jijantes.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper, who was in retirement, returned to the game to sign for Barcelona in September 2024 and has impressed since becoming the first-choice keeper following Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury and winning the job from Inaki Pena.
Barcelona’s 18-game winning streak has been largely attributed to the Polish goalkeeper’s performances, solidifying his spot in Hansi Flick’s squad. Barcelona has already started negotiating to extend Szczesny’s contract past June 2025, as his current deal expires at the end of the current campaign.
According to reports, the club intends to extend his contract by one year, with the possibility of additional extensions based on his performance. “Tek is happy at Barca and Barca is happy with him, so it is easy,” said his agent Barnett, highlighting the amicable environment of the talks.
