Rivaldo analysed the current situation in the world of football as it surrounds Barcelona. He is aware of Manchester City’s poor form and, although he sees Barca capable of winning the treble, he does not rule out a return of Pep Guardiola to the Camp Nou if things stop working out with Hansi Flick.
The world of football has many twists and turns and Rivaldo is clear about it. The former Brazilian player sees Guardiola’s return to Barca as a possibility, despite the fact that the man from Santpedor has denied it constantly. Rivaldo spoke about this issue and others related to the Azulgrana club in his weekly chat for ‘Betfair’.
“If Barca don’t win and Guardiola leaves City, a return to his beloved club could be a possibility. There is a strong bond and the Cules fans love him,” said the former footballer. “Pep can go to any big club in the world. If one day he decides to leave City, he will have no shortage of options. I think Pep will be reflecting on his future, thinking about whether he has reached the end of his cycle. As for the Barca option, Flick is doing well at the moment, so I don’t think he could return for a few years,” he said.
Rivaldo sees his former club doing so well that he even dreams of another treble: “Of course you can dream of a treble. If you had asked me at the beginning of the season I would have had doubts, but now I see Barca as very strong. I see them with options to win everything, although it won’t be easy”, he explained.
Raphinha was again one of the players the former player spoke about. “He reminds me a bit of me, mainly because of his personality. On the pitch he is a confident player, who has understood his role and plays with confidence. Last season he had some difficult moments, alternating between the bench and the starting line-up, but now he is confident, happy, comfortable and has taken on his role as captain,” he said about the left winger.
“In some plays I see myself reflected in what I was doing. For example, in his shooting, as he shoots very well. He’s not afraid to take risks and plays with freedom. He feels at home when he plays. I admire him a lot,” Rivaldo added.
