Barcelona sporting director Deco has confirmed that the Catalan club held discussions over signing Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford but made it clear he was never a priority target.
Marcus Rashford, currently on loan from Manchester United to Aston Villa, has seen his career take a different trajectory in recent months. Once linked with high-profile moves, he is now focused on gaining experience elsewhere.
Regarding the club’s transfer activity, Barcelona sporting director Deco admitted that the 27-year-old was a potential option. “It’s true, we were talking about Marcus Rashford and it was a possible signing… but he couldn’t come,” he told reporters.
However, the former midfielder insisted that Barcelona were not in urgent need of reinforcements. “We weren’t desperately looking for a signing. He was not a priority,” he added.
The fact that Rashford was mentioned in Barcelona’s transfer talks underlines the continued interest from Europe’s top clubs in his talent, despite his current situation at Manchester United.
