Nedal Househ, agent of Alphonso Davies, explained why the Canadian full-back has turned down offers from Real Madrid and ended up renewing his contract with Bayern Munich until June 2030.
Bayern Munich took advantage of the day after market deadline day to announce the renewal of Alphonso Davies. Wanted by Real Madrid, the Canadian full-back has signed a new contract until 2030.
Nedal Hoseh, the Bayern defender’s agent, spoke to ‘Winwin’ about the offers he has had during the month of January – he could negotiate with any club as his contract expires in June – and why he has finally signed with the Bavarian club.
“There were always talks with several clubs and, of course, Real Madrid were one of them. But in the end no agreement was signed and no agreement was reached with any club, as we left the door open for the player to consider all options for himself,” Hoseh said.
It was then that the agent explained why Bayern: “Real Madrid were certainly a serious option, and we had talks with them. But in the end a decision had to be made and it was to stay at Bayern. Of course, with all due respect to Real Madrid, which is a huge club, one of the most successful in history.”
“It’s always an honour for any player to receive an offer from a club like that, just like from Bayern or other big Premier clubs. But ultimately a decision had to be made, and at first it wasn’t easy because we weren’t sure what would happen at Bayern, and the player was aware of that. So we kept all options on the table open,” he said.
The one he did not want to talk about was Barcelona, even once asked: “There was interest from some Spanish clubs, but as you know, we only really talked to a few clubs, maybe three or four,” he concluded.
