Barcelona have confirmed on Tuesday that Ferran Torres suffered an injury to his soleus against Atletico Madrid at the weekend. The player is now in doubt to start in the Spanish Super Cup clash against Athletic Club.

Barcelona have been it with a stroke of bad luck as the end of the year approaches as the club confirmed earlier on Tuesday that Ferran Torres picked up an injury in the Liga clash against Atletico Madrid at the weekend.

“Ferran Torres ended Saturday’s game with a muscle issue. As the problem has not gone away, the player today underwent magnetic resonance and a small injury to his soleus has been detected, meaning he will be unavailable until the injury has healed,” reads a statement from the club on their official X account – formerly known as Twitter.

The Valencian’s setback means that he now joins the ‘Azulgrana’s lengthy injury list alongside the likes of Ter Stegen, Marc Bernal, Andreas Christensen, Lamine Yamal, Hector Fort. Although recovery timings were not outlined by the side, ‘Mundo Deportivo’ reports that Torres is set to miss out on the upcoming match against Barbastro, valid for the round of 32 of the Spanish Cup.

The question is whether the former Manchester City player will be ready for the semi-finals of the Spanish Supercup, which sees Flick’s men take on Athletic Club on January 8. Ferran Torres has a couple of weeks to recover in time for the fixture.
