For the second year in a row, the draw for the last 32 of the Copa del Rey paired Barbastro and Barcelona. After the 2-3 defeat in the last edition, the fourth-tier team face the new clash against the ‘Cules’ with the spirit of revenge.

Barbastro player Andres Barrera said that facing Barcelona for the second consecutive year in the Copa del Rey last 32 gives them the “opportunity to take revenge” against the Catalan team. Last season Barcelona visited Barbastro and won 2-3 to secure their place in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey.

“To see you against top-level elite players must be incredible. I’m convinced that it has gone down well in the city. Now we have the opportunity to take revenge,” said Barbastro player Andres Barrera, who was present at the draw held at the Ciudad del Futbol in Las Rozas.

Javier Lopez a.k.a ‘Javito’, player of the Aragonese team, intervened by video-call in the draw and, together with his teammates, showed his euphoria for the pairing.

“The matches have to be played, but beating one of these big teams is almost impossible. Even so, we have to compete. We are very happy because it is a replay of the same match as last year and we will try to enjoy ourselves, see the pitch full, and compete,” he confessed.

Barbastro compete in Group II of the Spanish fourth-tier and sit in sixteenth place in the standings. In the Copa del Rey they have reached the round of 32 after eliminating Amorebieta (4-0) and a La Liga team like Espanyol (2-0).
