Kylian Mbappe’s interview on Canal Plus’ Clique programme was published in full on Sunday, with the Real Madrid striker dismissing that the allegation over an alleged rape in Stockholm has clouded his focus on the Spanish team, where he promises he will succeed.

Kylian Mbappe has expressed unwavering confidence in his future at Real Madrid, declaring, “I will succeed here,” during an interview with Canal Plus France on Sunday.

Despite a challenging start to the season, the French forward dismissed rumours of depression and confirmed he is not receiving mental health support. The Madrid star opened up about his personal life and addressed recent controversies surrounding him.

Mbappe suggested that much of the speculation stems from the public nature of his career, saying, “When you’re a star, people speak for you.” In his conversation with journalist Mouloud Achour, he explained his decision to grant the interview: “At some point, you have to speak out. People need to understand,” he claimed.

The Real Madrid forward denied claims that he is struggling mentally due to his underwhelming performances this season. “There have been moments of fatigue, but I am not depressed,” he clarified. While acknowledging sporting disappointments and a lack of rest, he dismissed talk of depression as “pointless speculation”.

The Frenchman also admitted that Real Madrid’s performance so far has fallen short of expectations, but he emphasised the importance of the second half of the season. “At Real Madrid, it’s the second half of the season that matters—that’s when you’re judged,” he said.

Addressing the ongoing investigation in Sweden into an alleged sexual assault, he stated, “I was never worried.” While acknowledging the noise surrounding the case, he said he remains focused on his work. “If the authorities summon me, I will go,” he assured.

The incident reportedly took place in October during a French national team break, and Mbappe has not rejoined the squad since.

Despite his absence, the 25-year-old reaffirmed his love for the French national team and his desire to win another World Cup with Les Bleus. Regarding his exclusion from the latest squad, he revealed that he wanted to participate but accepted it was “the manager’s decision”.
