Lewandowski nears 100 Champions League goals: “Everything is working almost perfectly”

Robert Lewandowski spoke to the Movistar microphones after the 2-5 win over Red Star in the fourth Champions League matchday four. Asked about the milestone of 100 goals in Europe’s top competition, for which he only needs one more, he replied that he feels ‘very good’ about it. Regarding the blaugrana’s performance in general, he said that ‘everything is working almost perfectly’.

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski highlighted his side’s victory over Red Star in Belgrade (2-5) because “winning away games is very important at this stage of the Champions League.”

Lewandowski admitted that in the first half, the team’s play was “a bit slow” but, after the restart, everything changed: “We played very well and took our chances. We always had the game under control,” he told Movistar+.

The Polish striker was the scorer of a brace that puts him, with 99 goals, one away from being a centenarian in the Champions League and, for that, he said he felt “very good”.

“Sometimes when a team plays defensively like Red Star, a striker like me needs to have a bit of patience to find the space,” he said.

In any case, Lewandowski is happy with the level the whole team is playing at: “This season, we are playing very offensively and scoring a lot of goals, but the defensive line is also doing very well. So far, everything is working almost perfectly.”
