According to transfer news expert Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid are well in the race to sign Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen. Talks have reportedly already began between the two parties over the 21-year-old, as the Spaniards are to be pushing for the player.
November has just started, though transfer news continue to be the main topic of conversation, especially when it comes to Real Madrid. The Spaniards have already set their sights on next season, as multiple players have been targeted for the summer transfer window.
After reports on Alexander-Arnold as a top priority for ‘Los Blancos’, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz has now emerged as the team’s latest desire. According to ‘Sky Sport’ journalist Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid are “seriously” pursuing the 21-year-old for the 2025/2026 season.
Thanks to his stand out performances in recent seasons, Wirtz has earned attention from several European giants, such as Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Speculation regarding a move to the latter has also been prominent, with the Bavarians known for swooping talents from their Bundesliga rivals.
Though Plettenberg informs that negotiations are yet to take place between Leverkusen and Madrid, he also reports that the Germans would prefer a sale to the La Liga side as opposed to a transfer to Bayern. Leverkusen CEO Carro also confirmed last month that the club “don’t want to sell our best players to direct competitors”.
