Valencia released a medical statement to inform that Hugo Duro is suffering from a muscle injury for which there is still no return date. Unless there is a surprise, Ruben Baraja will not be able to count on him for the league game against Atletico Madrid after the international break.
Valencia striker Hugo Duro has suffered a muscle injury to his right leg, the club announced on Friday, without giving details of the extent of the injury or the estimated recovery time. Valencia said it has been decided that the striker ‘will undergo medical and physiotherapy treatment’, which means he will be out of training with the group.
Duro’s injury comes at a time when Valencia are analysing the situation of striker Rafa Mir, who is under investigation as the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault following a complaint from a woman last Sunday.
On Wednesday, Mir was provisionally released with precautionary measures such as the withdrawal of his passport and a 500-metre restraining order against contact with the complainant after stating the head of the Llíria examining court after being detained for two days.
After the departure on loan to Zaragoza of Alberto Mari, Duro, who has been a starter in that position, and Mir are the two strikers in the squad and if none of them were available, Baraja would have to move forward the position of players such as Diego Lopez or Dani Gomez or resort to a player from the reserve team.
