La Liga outfit Real Betis are working towards closing a deal for a member of the midfield ranks at Tottenham Hotspur.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Giovani Lo Celso as the player in question.
Argentine international Lo Celso is widely expected to bring a definitive close to the Tottenham chapter of his career this summer.
As much comes with the 28-year-old not featuring prominently in the plans of Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou.
A number of clubs from across the continent, in turn, are understood to have expressed an interest in landing Lo Celso ahead of this week’s transfer deadline.
It is the aforementioned Real Betis, though, who have positioned themselves at the front of the queue.
Ahead of the expected departure of Nabil Fekir, the Verdiblancos have earmarked Lo Celso as the ideal replacement in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad.
Negotiations, in turn, will imminently be kicked into gear with the Tottenham brass, over a deal for a player who enjoyed arguably his best club season to date whilst on the books of Betis, back in 2018/19.
