Barcelona confirm fresh injury blow before Rayo clash

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that a member of the club’s defensive ranks has picked up an injury.

The player in question? Eric García.

With Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araújo both sidelined, stopper Eric was considered as being in with a real shout of featuring from the off later this evening.

This comes as Hansi Flick’s troops prepare for their return to La Liga action, hopeful of making it three wins from three to start the campaign in a meeting with Rayo Vallecano.

In turn, it no doubt comes as a major blow to the former Manchester City man that, in fact, he will play no part at Vallecas.

As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms, Eric is set for a spell of his own on the treatment table, amid struggles with plantar fasciitis:

‘First-team player Eric Garcia has plantar fasciitis in his right foot. His evolution will determine his return to training.’
