Raheem Sterling is not in Barcelona’s plans. Although Chelsea have opened wide the exit doors for him, the English winger has never been an option for the Catalan giants.
Raheem Sterling is set to be one of the big names in the final days of the transfer window. Enzo Maresca’s decision to leave him out of the first two games of the season means an almost definitive farewell to the winger.
Many clubs are looking to see which way Sterling will go, whether it is to try and convince Maresca or to look for a new destination. And, although they are looking for an offensive reinforcement, Barcelona is not one of them.
Explains ‘Mundo Deportivo’ that Sterling is not in the plans of the Catalan team for this season. It is true that they are looking for a player at a low cost, but that will not be the Chelsea player.
Deco’s list of players to reinforce Hansi Flick’s squad starts with Federico Chiesa, who could arrive for just 15 million euros, and continues with Rafael Leao and Kingsley Coman, both of whom are more difficult to bring in.
What is clear is that Raheem Sterling seems to have played his last minutes in a Chelsea shirt. Not called up against City and Servette, and after issuing a statement an hour before the season opener, the Briton has to find himself a new team.
