First setback for Man Utd: Yoro forced off with injury

Leny Yoro, who was playing his second pre-season game for Manchester United, had to withdraw after 35 minutes of the friendly against Arsenal due to injury. However, Ten Hag played down the significance in the press room.

The Premier League teams are stepping up their preparations for the start of the official competitions. Arsenal and Manchester United met on Thursday in a friendly at SoFi Stadium. Both Mikel Arteta and Ten Hag were already lining up a similar eleven to the one we might see in a few weeks’ time.

Leny Yoro was playing his second game as a United player after making his debut against Rangers a few days earlier. However, the Frenchman did not make it past the 35th minute as he was forced off with an injury. With a worried look on his face and talking to United’s fitness coach, the Frenchman left the field with discomfort in his left leg.

In the press room, Ten Hag spoke about the issue and asked for some time to see what kind of injury the Frenchman has: “We have to wait 24 hours. We are very careful, especially with Leny because he only did 50 per cent of the sessions,” he told reporters.

United will issue a medical statement in the next few hours. Yoro left the match with 1-1 on the scoreboard after Hojlund and Gabriel Jesus netted for each team. However, the match went Arsenal’s way as they rode a great individual effort from Martinelli on the left to seal a 2-1 win on the American tour.
