Robert Lewandowski and Andreas Christensen have been the big news at Barcelona. Both have joined the pre-season training camp after taking part in the European Championship.
Defender Andreas Christensen and striker Robert Lewandoski underwent the traditional medical and fitness tests at the Joan Gamper training complex on Monday, before returning to the squad shortly.
Both players have thus joined Barcelona’s pre-season training camp, which has begun a new week of work after enjoying a rest day on Sunday.
Christensen and Lewandowski are the first two internationals to return to training after taking part in the European Championships with Denmark and Poland respectively. The centre-back lost in the round of 16 against Germany and the striker in the group stage, making them the first ‘Cules’ to be eliminated from the tournament.
The players did not take part in the morning training session at the Sant Joan Despi facilities, in which the new addition was the return to the squad of Pablo Torre after undergoing surgery on a fractured fifth metacarpal bone in his left hand.
Still to join the pre-season squad are Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Jules Kounde, Pedro Gonzalez ‘Pedri’, Ilkay Gundogan, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Raphael Dias ‘Raphina’, as well as Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia and Fermin Lopez, who have been called up for Spain for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Barca squad will continue training throughout this week and on Sunday 28th they will leave for a tour of the United States, where they will play three friendlies against Manchester City, Real Madrid and Milan.
