“Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal are great players”

Randal Kolo Muani spoke at a press conference from the French national team’s training camp at the European Championship in Germany. The Paris Saint-Germain winger acknowledged Spain’s great form ahead of their semi-final match and spoke of Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal as major threats in Luis de la Fuente’s squad.

France striker Randal Kolo Muani said on Sunday he sees Spain as “one of the best teams” at Euro 2024 and remarked that they play “great football”, but warned that the French side are up for the challenge and “like big games” like Tuesday’s in Munich.

“The games always get tougher and tougher as you get closer to the final. It’s a big semi-final. Spain are one of the best teams in this competition and they play great football.

“But these are matches we are used to. We like big games. We’re ready for Tuesday,” he told a press conference in Paderborn, where the French side are in training for the entire continental finals.

“Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal are very good players,” Kolo Muani said when asked about the two Spain wingers, who France will face on Tuesday.

“It’s true that we haven’t scored many goals, but we are in the semi-finals. We have the chances. It just depends on us. We have to be more effective. We have lacked efficiency,” he said.

He doesn’t mind playing with two or three strikers: “I would say I feel better when I’m on the pitch, simply. Playing alongside two strikers, there is more freedom: you can be deeper, go wide. You have to complement each other.”

At club level, Kolo Muani has scored nine goals in 40 games last term. “It’s a season I have to forget quickly. These things happen. It’s disappointing compared to the previous season in Frankfurt (when he played for Eintracht),” said the forward.
