The newspapers ‘Bild’ and ‘Relevo’ report that Barcelona have finished paying the 43 million euros in bonus payments that remained to be paid to Dortmund for the signing of Ousmane Dembele, who signed his contract with Barcelona in the summer of 2017. At the time, it was leaked that the deal amounted to 105 million, but, now, the figure rises to 148 with add-ons.
This week, the ‘Bild’ newspaper published a report on the revenues that Borussia Dortmund has welcomed since 2015. In an excerpt from the news, it mentions that the Signal Iduna Park side have already received all the bonus payments from the Ousmane Dembele sale to Barcelona in the summer of 2017. The thing is, several seasons ago, add-ons were leaked that should not have been fully satisfied.
In the same year in which the operation was made official, ‘Football Leaks’ broke down the agreement into 105 million euros fixed, 5 more for playing 25 official matches, 5 more on reaching 50, 5 more at 75, 5 more at 100, 5 more for each Champions League won up to a maximum of 2 and 5 more for each participation of the ‘Cules’ in the top European competition regardless of winning it up to, again, a maximum of 2.
Finally, all the variables of the agreement reached between the Catalan club and the Bundesliga side were fulfilled except for lifting the Champions League trophy, so the French winger cost the ‘Cules’ around 148 million euros, which makes him one of the worst operations in the history of Barcelona.
Ousmane Dembele played just 185 games for the ‘Cules’ in six seasons at the Catalan club, mainly due to the long time he spent away from the pitch due to various injuries. The international with ‘Les Bleus’ scored 40 goals and provided 41 assists but his level was quite irregular during his time as ‘Cule’.
