Espanyol could be about to make the biggest sale in their history. For several weeks, Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for goalkeeper Joan Garcia, and at last, they will make an attempt to secure his services.
Arsenal were not prepared to push for Garcia until they closed the sale of Aaron Ramsdale, their current backup to Euro 2024 winner David Raya. That has now happened, with the Englishman set to join fellow Premier League side Southampton on a deal worth £25m.
As per Relevo, Arsenal will now go for Garcia, but Espanyol do not intend to negotiate for the 23-year-old. The only way that a deal is done is if his €30m release clause is triggered.
There’s no doubt that Garcia’s departure would be a big blow for Espanyol, although the money raised would allow for multiple signings to be made for Friday’s deadline. This will certainly be one to follow over the next 24-48 hours.
