According to talkSPORT, Real Madrid are monitoring the progress of Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s standout young talents this season.

The 19-year-old, who joined the Cherries from Juventus for £12.6million last summer, is said to be a key target for Los Blancos in the upcoming transfer window.

Huijsen has impressed in his debut season in England, making 19 Premier League appearances and playing an instrumental role in Bournemouth’s solid defensive performances. The club has conceded just 29 goals so far, a tally bettered only by Liverpool and Arsenal in the English top flight.

The Spanish centre-back’s contract includes a release clause worth £50 million, which has sparked interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Reports from talkSPORT suggest that Real Madrid, in particular, are keen to secure his services and have identified him as a “major target” for the summer.

Madrid’s interest is understandable, with the contracts of key defenders David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Raul Ascencio all set to expire in less than 18 months. In light of this, securing a young, talented centre-back like the 19-year-old could help bolster their defensive options for the future.

However, Real Madrid face competition from Manchester United, who are also reportedly keeping an eye on the teenager.

Despite the interest from multiple top clubs, Bournemouth will likely find it challenging to hold onto one of their star players as they push for a potential spot in next season’s Champions League.

In addition to Huijsen, Bournemouth could face bids for other key players, with Liverpool said to be interested in Milos Kerkez, and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly targeting Illia Zabarnyi.
