Sevilla coach Garcia Pimienta appeared at a press conference after his side’s 1-4 loss to Barcelona. Although he acknowledged the superiority of the Catalan side and the good work of his counterpart Hansi Flick, he complained that the VAR did not advise the referee to review a push by Jules Kounde on Djibril Sow that, in his opinion, could have been called a penalty.

Sevilla coach Francisco Javier García Pimienta said that Barcelona, to whom they lost on Sunday, are “a great team” and “cost them a lot” to play against despite their chances and a “first half that was very good in general terms”.

“We knew they would have possession, but we conceded little in that first half. We had chances to score the second and it’s a shame we couldn’t convert them.

“In the second half, we were penalised by their goal right at the start, which was more than avoidable on our part. Then, there was a very clear play, a push on Sow that could have been the 2-2. We had to score the penalty, but we would have been in the game,” he explained.

Regarding the action prior to the 1-3 goal, he stated that “Sow is unmarked, he is going to shoot and, although you may not score the goal, it is a very clear action and it is, at the very least, something to review”.
