Barcelona’s Lenglet offered to Atletico as Hancko’s backup

David Hancko is moving away from the Metropolitano. Negotiations for the centre-back are stalled, with Feyenoord refusing to negotiate the price. Atletico raised their offer from 20 to 25 million, but the Dutch side are asking for at least 8 million more and the gap seems too wide. Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet has been mentioned as a ‘plan B’.

One of the positions Atletico Madrid need to strengthen before the end of the summer is at centre-back. With the departures of Savic, Mario Hermoso, Gabriel Paulista and Soyuncü, the ‘Colchoneros’ are in need of signings at the back and David Hancko is one of the favourites.

The Madrid side have been in talks with his club Feyenoord for some time, but things are not moving forward. According to ‘Marca’, negotiations are stalled and there is an 8 million difference between the two clubs.

Atletico, at first, offered 20 million for him, but raised that offer to 25 million due to Feyenoord’s strong stance, who demanded 35 million. The Dutch club is not willing, in any case, to let him leave for less than 33 and the La Liga side is not willing to reach those figures.

David Hancko is pushing to convince Feyenoord to let him leave. “It depends on the clubs…”, he said the last time he was asked about his future.

In any case and, for whatever may happen, Atletico Madrid are looking for a ‘plan B’. Clement Lenglet, who has been offered to the ‘Colchoneros’, has been mentioned as an option.

The Frenchman’s alternative has not seduced the Madrid team either. The club have ruled him out: he is unaffordable for the 16 million euros gross that he earns. In addition, he has not shone in any of the two loan spells he has been on (Tottenham and Aston Villa), so he is not convincing either.
