Pedri Gonzalez gave an interview to ‘Mundo Deportivo’, where he did not hide his desire to see Nico Williams at Barcelona next season. The Spanish footballer also talked about his competition with Dani Olmo, as well as Spain’s Euro aspirations.
Nico Williams is the name on everyone’s lips around Barcelona. The Catalans’ dream was the subject of a conversation with Pedri Gonzalez in an interview with ‘Mundo Deportivo’, where he gave an insight into what the transfer of the Athletic Club talent could be like.
“Yes, it’s clear that it would be a spectacular signing. He’s a player who we’re already seeing what he’s doing at the European Championship. Hopefully he can be with us, but we don’t know yet because he has a contract with Athletic. Whatever happens, happens,” he said.
“We don’t talk about it too much. It’s a decision for him and Barcelona to make. A lot of things have to happen,” Pedri Gonzalez said. His competition with Dani Olmo he sees it this way: “Right now, for example, a lot of things are coming out that one or the other has to play,” he said.
“It’s clear that whoever plays is going to give his best and I have a very good relationship with him. We go many times together and the opposite of what is said happens. We get on spectacularly and he has immense quality”.
Finally, Pedri is confident that the 2024/25 season with Barcelona will be “a good year”: “Firstly, to finish the European Championship in the best possible way, hopefully winning it. Then I think it’s going to be a good year for Barcelona. There is a new coach and the squad will want to give him all the confidence.”
