Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has backed sporting director Deco to land a new centre-forward before the summer window closes.
“We are looking for this player (a number nine). Deco has done a fantastic job, and I have absolute confidence in him,” the German coach told ‘3Cat’ following FC Barcelona’s 2-1 Joan Gamper Trophy victory over Egyptian side Al-Ahly.
Turning his attention to Sunday’s LaLiga opener against Elche, Flick admitted that this pre-season “has not been easy”, with World Cup commitments preventing him from having his full squad available from the outset.
“Several players only arrived a week ago, so we have used these pre-season matches to manage minutes,” the German boss noted.
Despite the challenges, Flick insisted he possesses “a fantastic squad” to tackle “difficult” fixtures such as Sunday’s clash with Elche. “The vibes are good,” he concluded.
