Matteo Ruggeri remains in Madrid amid Aston Villa interest as Diego Simeone’s side depart for their friendly against Manchester City.
Diego Pablo Simeone has confirmed his Atletico de Madrid squad for their upcoming high-profile friendly against Manchester City in Seoul.
Italian full-back Matteo Ruggeri is the most notable absentee as he weighs up a move to Aston Villa, with the defender currently finalising the details of his departure.
Also missing out is Giuliano Simeone, who only returned to training last Tuesday following an extended break after his World Cup exploits with Argentina.
World champions Alejandro Grimaldo and Marc Pubill also stay behind. Despite cutting their holidays short to report early for pre-season, the pair will continue their training programmes at the Majadahonda Sports City rather than travelling with the main group.
Thomas Lemar does make the flight, however, despite being forced to sit out this morning’s training session with a minor physical complaint.
Meanwhile, Kang-In Lee is already in his native South Korea and will link up with the Atletico de Madrid contingent directly in Seoul.
