Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi has reportedly been handed a substantial fine after German police discovered a taser and a knuckle duster in his possession, according to Bild.
The DFB has yet to issue a statement, and the player remains available for Germany’s World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.
Germany go into the match needing only a draw to seal automatic qualification for the next World Cup, though Julian Nagelsmann’s side will be wary after a 2-0 win.
The build-up has been overshadowed by late controversy. Bild reports that Adeyemi has been fined around €450,000 for illegal weapon possession, an offence that can carry a prison sentence under German law.
The news broke while the forward was with the national squad. Speaking on the matter, Nagelsmann confirmed the 23-year-old would still be considered for selection but stressed the issue would be handled in due course.
“Rudi and I have spoken to him,” the Germany coach said. “But this is a situation that needs proper time and space. We have a very important match tomorrow, so we will deal with it afterwards.”
