On the eve of their final group match in the Club World Cup against the Seattle Sounders, PSG are playing for their place in the round of 16. Present at a press conference in Seattle this Sunday, Luis Enrique appeared calm and determined.
“We are arriving at the best moment of the competition. We have to win to advance, and that’s a motivation”, affirmed the Spanish coach. Despite the defeat against Botafogo, he remains confident: “We didn’t deserve to lose that match against Botafogo. Football is like that…”
According to him, the team’s spirit is good: “I think the team is in a good moment; it has its usual mentality.” He notably praised the latest sessions: “We had three perfect training sessions, with intensity. I think we are ready.”
Offensive efficiency remains a major area of focus: “We can improve our efficiency or the way we finish actions.”
Regarding Ousmane Dembele, who remains uncertain, he is cautious: “He has participated in training with the team this week. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow. I don’t like taking risks with players.”
Luis Enrique is wary about Seattle: “They are a team that works very well, that plays with intensity. All the conditions are there for a great match.”
He concluded by underlining the importance of the occasion: “It’s normal to be playing for qualification in the third match. You can be eliminated; you have to show your ability to manage this type of match.”
