On Tuesday, Manchester City agreed a club-to-club deal with Lyon for the transfer of Rayan Cherki. The highly-rated attacker will play for the Sky Blues until 2030.

The French youngster has signed a five-year contract with Manchester City, with Lyon receiving a package worth €35 million, including add-ons.

“The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has put pen to paper on a five-year deal, which keeps him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2030,” reads the statement.

The paperwork is prepared in time for the Club World Cup, signalling the urgency of the move as the Sky Blues look to rebuild their squad following the free transfer exit of Kevin De Bruyne.

His signing comes despite strong interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, highlighting the club’s determination to secure his services.

The 21-year-old impressed in the Europa League, notably scoring a dramatic 104th-minute winner against Manchester United, showcasing his potential to bring creativity and flair to the team’s midfield.
