Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal joined calls from Rodri Hernandez and Jules Kounde for a possible strike in the face of an overloaded fixture schedule.
Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal said on Wednesday that the hypothetical call for a players’ strike due to the intense fixture schedule is “a possibility” and that it is the players who have to “raise their voices”.
“It is a possibility, of course it is. The players are not being counted on. And we are the ones who have to raise our voices,” Carvajal said in Madrid at the premiere of a documentary about a Spanish martial artist.
The possibility of a footballers’ strike was raised on Tuesday by Manchester City’s Rodri Hernandez, who said: “Yes, I think we are close to that.”
“I think if you ask any footballer, they will tell you the same thing. It’s not just Rodri’s opinion. I think it’s the opinion of the players and, if it goes on like this, there will come a time when there is no other option. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but it’s something that worries us because we’re the ones who are suffering,” Carvajal added.
