Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti visited the press room after the victory over Sevilla (0-2) and addressed the possible continuity of Modric. The Italian also praised Jacobo Ramon and placed him “at the same level” as Asencio.
Madrid secured the runner-up spot at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan on Sunday after beating Sevilla (0-2) and Carlo Ancelotti, already in the press room, highlighted his team’s victory despite the fact that their opponents saw two red cards during the match.
“It was a difficult match to handle because of the atmosphere and the two red cards, which made the match not very intense. We could have played better, yes… but the moment we were left with the superiority, we didn’t need much more,” the Italian began.
On the other hand, ‘Carletto’ gave his opinion on a possible continuity of Modric for next season: “Everyone knows how much the club and the fans love him. They will have time to make the right decision”.
Regarding Jacobo Ramon, the Italian coach put him at “the same level as Asencio: ”We consider him so. He has had a serious injury, but in January and February he started to be well. He’s a bit shy and that’s why I think he hasn’t shown all his quality, but I think he can be in Madrid’s squad in the future”.
Finally, Ancelotti explained what a youth academy player needs to stay in the first team for a long time. “You have to follow the example of Carvajal, Lucas or Nacho. You have to fight and have the dream of succeeding at Madrid. Asencio has done very well, like Gonzalo or Victor. Raul has done a great job. He has had a season with many injuries, but he has been able to get the best out of the team and the players”, he concluded.
