Andriy Lunin was the only fresh face in Real Madrid’s training session on Friday as they began preparations for Sunday’s penultimate La Liga match against Sevilla, with Raul Asencio absent due to a thigh issue.
With the La Liga title now mathematically sealed by Barcelona, Real Madrid returned to work at Valdebebas ahead of their trip to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan (Sunday, 19.00 CEST), with just one new face compared to the Mallorca clash – goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.
The Ukrainian had missed the last match with a knock to his right hand but was back in full training with no issues reported.
Also available again is Aurelien Tchouameni, who served a one-match suspension for yellow card accumulation. Both players are now at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal with one training session left.
Still sidelined are Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga, Lucas Vazquez, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes and Brahim Diaz.
Raul Asencio, who was forced off in the second half against Mallorca due to discomfort in his thigh, did not train on Friday. His availability will depend on how he progresses over the coming days.
As a result, Ancelotti had only 12 senior players available for the session: Courtois, Lunin, Jesus Vallejo, Fran Garcia, Tchouameni, Modric, Ceballos, Valverde, Bellingham, Arda Guler, Mbappe and Endrick.
Several academy players once again filled out the squad. According to the club’s website, the session included rondos, combination play and finishing exercises, concluding with a small-sided game.
Madrid will return to training on Saturday morning for their final session before facing Sevilla. The fixture was temporarily moved to Monday at 20.00 CEST by La Liga before reverting back to Sunday at 19.00 CEST in line with the rest of the unified matchday.
